Program Details

Work Requirements

Participating in the Sustainable RIVER project is a full-time position.  Therefore participants will be expected to:
  • Work 40 hours/week
  • Generally work 8 hours/day Monday through Friday (some flexibility exists in scheduling)
  • Complete the entire 11-week program (30 May 2017 to 11 August 2017)

Student Eligibility

To apply, students must be:
  • A U.S. citizen or resident alien (green card)
  • 18 years old
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (e.g. recent graduates are not eligible to apply)
Applications from students of under-represented groups in the sciences are encouraged.


Participants will receive a $5,775 stipend.  In addition, expenses associated with traveling to Vermillion, SD will be reimbursed (up to $350).  A housing stipend sufficient for a room in Coyote Village will be provided.  A stipend will also be provided for food.  


Applicants will be notified by e-mail in mid-March or early April about acceptance into Sustainable RIVER.
