VLP Poetry Festival

"Poetry is an echo asking a shadow to dance."  Carl Sandburg

VLP Poetry Festival
Thursday, March 27, 2014
University of South Dakota, Vermillion

Spend a day with fellow poets. • Work on your own poetry during morning and afternoon writing workshops led by award-winning visiting writers. • Attend poetry readings. • Watch or participate in an evening poetry slam (competitive performance poetry).

Featured writers include Jan Beatty, Pittsburgh, and Matt Mauch, Minneapolis. The festival will also include readings by USD VLP poets.

Registration for the writing workshops is required; all other events are free and open to the general public.

Visiting poets' participation is made possible by a Speakers Bureau grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council, by the USD Department of English, by a program grant from USD's Student Government Association, and by the VLP.

If you are a person with a disability and need a special accommodation to fully participate in any university activity or event, please contact Disability Services at 605-677-6389 as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the event, so that appropriate arrangements may be made.
