VLP Writers' Festival
Thursday, March 26, 2020
University of South Dakota, Vermillion

Spend a day with fellow writers. • Work on your own writing during morning and afternoon writing workshops led by published/award-winning visiting writers. • Attend readings. • Watch or participate in an evening LiTrash event.

Featured writers for 2020 are fiction writer and USD alum Pen Pearson, and Omaha performance poet and poetry slam champion Zedeka Poindexter. Pen will do a morning writing workhop (no writing experience needed), Zedeka will do an afteroon poetry writing workshop, USD grad students will present a noon reading, Pen and Zedeka will present an afternoon reading, and the VLP will host an evening LiTrash night featuring readings by Zedeka, USD alum Katy Beem, and an OPEN MIC open to anyone who wants to sign up to read their original poems, stories, or creative nonfiction.

All events are open to the public. Registration and fee for the writing workshops is required (click on registration form below); all other events are FREE.

Visiting poets' participation is made possible by Speakers Bureau grants from the South Dakota Humanities Council, by the USD Department of English, and by the VLP.
If you are a person with a disability and need a special accommodation to fully participate in any university activity or event, please contact Disability Services at 605-677-6389 as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the event, so that appropriate arrangements may be made.
