VLP SHORT STORY WRITING CONTEST

Saturday, November 7, 2020, noon - 3 p.m., USD McCusick Technology Center Room 101. Fee to register. Participants are given a prompt at the beginning of the contest, and they have 3 hours in the computer lab to write a complete short story using that prompt. The winning story gets $100 and is published in the 2021 VLP journal, Red Coyote. Second-place story gets $50 and publication.

VLP LiTrash & OPEN MIC NIGHTS

One THURSDAY each month: September 24, October 29, and November 19 on Zoom.

Pop in to hear a featured reading (sometimes with crazy themes), then sign up for our OPEN MIC and read your own work. Fun, no pressure, easy.

VLP WRITERS FESTIVAL

Spring 2021, location and date TBA.

The festival features morning and afternoon writing workshops with published, visiting writers. The fest also features readings with visiting writers and USD grad creative writing students, and an evening LiTrash reading & open mic.

VLP COMMUNITY WRITERS GROUP

2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., on Zoom

Creative writers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join. No matter what you write, poetry, fiction, CNF, or memoir, our supportive and enthusiastic group will keep you motivated and writing. Come and share your work, or just come to listen.
