Quick biography 

From 2013 to 2015, Dr. KC was a research fellow at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications (LHNCBC), US National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Before this, he worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the LORIA research centre, Universite de Lorraine in direct collaboration with industrial partner ITEFOFT, France. Dr. KC earned his PhD in Computer Science, from INRIA - Universite de Lorraine, France in 2011, Master of Science diploma in Information Technology by research and thesis from School of ICT, SIIT, Thammasat University in 2007, and Engineering diploma in Electronics & Communications from Pokhara University, Nepal in 2003.

Dr. KC has demonstrated expertise in pattern recognition, image processing and computer vision with applications in handwriting recognition, graphics recognition, document information content exploitation and medical image analysis. At the NLM-NIH, Dr KC has expanded his research interests in the following topics: 1) biomedical image region labelling in big data; 2) chest X-ray screening for the evidence of pulmonary abnormalities (recognized by HHS Ignite), covered in Washington Post, 2014, published in SPIE newsroom of biomedical & medical image (by Dr. Antani, lead scientist), and covered by atlas of science; 3) face matching techniques for post-disaster family reunification.

Dr. KC has published more than 70 research articles, including a book section in encyclopedia of electrical and electronics engineering.
